Catrin Promper
Head of Office for Managing Directors at Environment Agency Austria
Catrin Promper currently serves as Head of Office for the Managing Directors and Strategic Corporate Development at the Austrian Environment Agency (“Umweltbundesamt”). With many years of experience in both research and the federal public sector, Catrin brings valuable expertise in bridging science, policy, and practice.
Catrin has a background in natural hazards and disaster risk management and holds an MBA with a focus on Change Management. In the field of natural hazard management, she is particularly interested in the impacts of natural hazards on different social groups and how these can be addressed effectively through targeted communication. In a changing climate, it is of utmost importance to recognize that natural hazards must be managed in ways that consider social vulnerabilities and promote inclusive, adaptive responses.
Catrin served as Managing Director of we4DRR for seven years and is now an active member of the network’s Steering Committee. Strengthening the role of women in science and disaster risk reduction has been a key commitment throughout her career.
Outside of work, Catrin is an avid road cyclist — a passion that mirrors her approach to work and life, where endurance, strategy, and adaptability are key.
