Lydia Pedoth
Researcher at Centre for Climate Change and Transformation, Eurac Research
Lydia Pedoth is a researcher at Eurac Research in Bolzano, working at the Centre for Climate Change and Transformation. Her research focuses on the social and governance aspects of risk management and climate change adaptation (CCA), particularly the relationship between science and policy. Lydia is also Co-Lead of EUSALP Action Group 8 on Risk Governance.
Lydia has a master’s degree in political science from Roma Tre University and is currently completing her PhD in Landscape Planning at BOKU University in Vienna. Her PhD research examines the role of natural hazard plans in shaping risk perception and community preparedness.
Lydia has been a member of the we4DRR network and its Steering Committee since its foundation in 2016. She values the network as a unique source of collaboration, exchange and mutual support, and has found it very enriching professionally and personally. She believes that such networks are essential for empowering women experts and raising their profile in DRR. From a research and practice perspective, she thinks that it is crucial to study and discuss the role of gender in DRR and CCA, not only because different groups are affected in different ways, but also because they play a key role in community preparedness. Addressing today's challenges in DRR and CCA can only succeed if they are planned and implemented inclusively and justly.
